Women on Mission
WOMEN ON MISSION (WOM)
WOM, the mission organization of Bald Mountain for women ages 18 on up, meets the first Wednesday night of each month at 7:00 p.m. This day and time have been designated “Missions Night” for our church; therefore, all the missions organizations meet at that time. The WOM also sponsors the other age level mission groups of Mission Friends, Girls in Action (GAs), and Acteens.
Each woman receives a missions magazine entitled Missions Mosaic. The Program Chairperson presents an interesting program on specific missionaries from the magazine, along with other items of interest for the ladies. The Prayer Coordinator presents the Missionary Prayer Calendar followed by prayer. A report is given by the Secretary/Treasurer, followed by a short business meeting conducted by the WOM Director. The women make decisions during the business meetings as to what service projects are carried out.
We have learned that to honor God we must pray specifically, and that to pray specifically, we must first become informed of the needs of prayer for our missionaries.
The WOM sponsors the three annual Southern Baptist Weeks of Prayer and offerings: the North Carolina State Missions Week of Prayer, the International Missions Week of Prayer and the North American Missions Week of Prayer, and keeps the church body informed of the needs of our missionaries during these special emphasis weeks.
Many events that benefit our church membership and our community are planned and conducted by WOM throughout the year.
