John Elledge, Associate Pastor

A native of Wilkes County, I am married to Marcia who is also a Wilkes County native. Together, we have three wonderful children and three grandchildren. I spent thirty years as a Highway Patrolman for the North Carolina Highway Patrol serving in Gaston and Ashe counties. It was during my career as a patrolman that the Lord called me into ministry. I have preached in various churches and then was called as the pastor at Liberty Grove Baptist Church in Fleetwood, NC for twelve years. While at Liberty Grove, I served bi-vocationally for four years, then transitioned to full-time ministry after retiring from the Highway Patrol. In May 2016, the Lord called me to Bald Mountain Baptist Church to serve as the Associate Pastor. I have loved my time here at Bald Mountain and look forward to seeing all that the Lord is going to do.

In addition to my ministry at Bald Mountain, I also serve with the Ashe Baptist Association with Ashe Really Cares (ARC) Board, as a member on the North Carolina Baptist State Convention Board of Directors, the Christian Social Services Committee, NC Baptists Aging Ministry (NCBAM), Baptist Children Homes of NC, and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital Faith Health Ministry.

My heart’s desire is that all people will come to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ, as well as reaching their full potential as a follower of Jesus. I am praying that the Lord will bless Bald Mountain through strengthening the “in-reach” ministry and continuing to build us into a family that loves one another as the Lord loves us.
